Hey Everyone!

Well the race season has finally started back up and that means so have the race reports (new and improved via Jesse). This past weekend we traveled down to the second round of the AMA Rekluse National Enduro Series after missing the sign up for round one.

On Friday we left as soon as I got out of class at 2, and we drove to Indy where we met up with my cousin Rodney Holland who came along to help us throughout the weekend (Big Thanks!). We then made a quick pit stop at the Indy Dealer Expo just to browse and talk to a few friends. When the show closed at six, Dad drove until around 12:30 where we stopped in Tennessee before finishing the rest of the drive Saturday morning.

We arrived on location at Greensboro, GA around noon. Dad, Brooks, and Rodney set up while I geared up for a quick testing loop with Russell Bobbitt just to get the new brake pads set and feel some real dirt under the tires. The bike felt great (again big thanks to Dad, Enduro Engineering, and Cam for the help there) and I was VERY excited to get going on the first race. After the setup and lunch was done Rodney, Brooks and I went looking for the two big bulls we had found loose in the adjacent woods two years ago. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful.

The rain came as expected in the night and made the course pretty sloppy. It was supposed to rain anywhere from 1-4” so thankfully we stayed on the lower side of that prediction. It rained almost all day so there was no rest for the wicked.

The first section was short, but just long enough for my arms to pump up as expected for the first race. I had a good time in there posting the 30th fastest time. The second test was the best of my day, 27th fastest time, it had a nice flow I felt and had some sand that made the rain tolerable. I got a lot of riding time in that section with Charlie Mullins, passing him twice as his bike stalled once and he crashed another before he ultimately gapped me. The day sort of went downhill from there as I got stuck long enough in the fifth section to see both Charlie Mullins and Nick Fahringer go by, due to a rider stalling in front of me in muddy creek crossing. In the last section, I started out strong staying with Russell Bobbitt much longer than I ever had, but ultimately faded due to tiredness. Lack of seat time on the bike this year was definitely felt throughout the day.

Overall the course was good for rain, and I had a great time down in Georgia with my friends and family. I finished the day 34th overall, 17th overall A, and 5th in Open A. Being stuck cost me quite a bit of time, and I’m definitely looking to improve moving into the next round in South Carolina.

As always, thanks to my wonderful sponsors: PerkinsvillePowersports.com, Floyd Farms Racing, Steve Comer Farms, ServiceMaster Clean of Anderson, Kerlin Trailers Motorsports and Western World, Enduro Engineering, Unabiker, and IndyMoto. Without them, my racing program wouldn’t even be possible, so big thanks!!!!
